Colguard natural product is specially formulation of peppermint oil for treatment of bloating, indigestion and abdominal pain, and also for relieving bowel spasms in the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). peppermint oil is a carminative with potent antispasmodic properties.
In vitro and in vivo experiments show that it reduces abdominal symptoms in the IBS by relaxing gastrointestinal smooth muscle by reducing calcium influx.
However, after oral administration of peppermint oil, it is rapidly absorbed from the proximal gut, and frequently has unwanted effects such as heart burn.
Colgurad, by employing specific formulation of peppermint oil, in which the active ingredient is coated in pellets, sustain release of it until reaches to the distal small bowel and exerting local effects of colonic relaxation and reduce side effects.
According to the latest meta-analysis of the clinical data about impact of peppermint oil on the IBS, peppermint oil was shown to be a safe and effective therapy for pain and global symptoms in adults with IBS. Children over 8 years of age, adults and elderly: take one capsule three times day (one capsule 30 to 60 minutes before each meal)
For adolescents over 12 years of age, adults and elderly, if symptoms are severe, the dose can be increased to 2 capsules taken three times a day (2 capsule 30 to 60 minutes before each meal)
Continue medication until symptoms are relieve, if symptoms are chronic, treatment may take 2 to 3 months.
